JOY

Happiness can be fleeting. We all strive to find the things that give us a positive emotional jolt, but so often what we think will make us happy either misses the mark or ends too soon. Before we understand it, we need more better faster now to make us happy again.
Joy is made of sterner stuff. More than an0 emotion that crowds out reality, it takes on reality with a firm confidence that everything will work out. Even our tragedies teach us something about being human by pointing us to a Comforter who cares deeply about our tears.

AUTHENTICITY

Look closely at the jars and you’ll find so many similarities. Shallow necks, roughly the same size, same material. Yet every one has different styles, different colors, different patterns. We could say they are the same and we could say they are unique.
The same is true for us. We are all the same in that we are human beings, prone to make mistakes, striving to make something of ourselves. But we are so unique. Different races, different backgrounds, different personalities. Authenticity means celebrating what we have in common AND what is unique to us.

RELATIONSHIP

When Jesus is asked to reveal the greatest commandment, he answers with two that relate to each other. The first is to love God with all our hearts, souls, minds, and strength. This is difficult to do when we are broken, but Jesus died to bring wholeness to us.
The second is to love others as we love ourselves. Relationship with Him and the peace He brings helps us to understand and love ourselves. Love for Him and love for ourselves helps us love even our enemies. Relationship is the heart of what God seeks with us and for us.

And we are confident that He hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases Him.
1 John 5:14, NLT
